2012 Puerto Rico Tip-Off Moves to Bayamon as Tickets Go on Sale

Sept. 24, 2012 -- The 2012 Puerto Rico Tip-Off will be played at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriquez in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, Nov. 15, 16 & 18. Tickets will go on sale Monday, Oct. 1 for the eight-team field that includes Akron, Massachusetts, UNC Asheville, NC State, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Providence and Tennessee. This is the first year that the tournament will be held in the City of Bayamón.

“The City of Bayamon and the Coliseo Ruben Rodriquez have both embraced this event and are very excited to the hosting the sixth annual Puerto Rico Tip-Off,” said Dan Shoemaker, Vice President, ESPN Regional Television (ERT). Fans can purchase tickets to all six sessions (12 games) for $80 each and single-session tickets (two games) are available for $15 each. A minimum of six games will air on ESPNU, two on ESPN2, including the Championship Game on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 6:30 p.m. ET. ESPN3 will have the three remaining games and the entire tournament will be available through WatchESPN, accessible online at WatchESPN.com and through smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.

Tournament highlights:

  • In an ESPN.com early men’s preseason top 25 poll, NC State is ranked No. 6 and will face Penn State in first-round action on ESPN2 at 5 p.m.
  • ESPNU will be the home for the remaining three first-round games – Akron vs. Oklahoma State at 10:30 a.m.; UNC Asheville vs. Tennessee at 12:30 p.m.; and Providence vs. Massachusetts at 7:30 p.m.
  • Five of the eight teams competing in the field earned 2012 postseason berths
