What do you get when you put teams that tasted postseason play in 2008-09 in sunny San Juan for the third annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Puerto Rico Tip-Off? Judging by Years 1 and 2, the answer is clear: March Madness-caliber hoops, with tropical breezes as a backdrop. The teams for ’09—Boston University, Dayton, George Mason, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kansas State, Ole Miss and Villanova—are about to find out just how good basketball in Puerto Rico can be in November. Half the Puerto Rico Tip-Off field, led by Final Four standout Villanova, reached the postseason in 2008-09.

On the bus ride to the gym, Coach Cal looked extremely relaxed. (Maybe too relaxed.) His players hardly played that way, but lost a hard-fought slugfest to Xavier.
